XRPFi on Flare – How to Use FAssets and Firelight for Flywheel Step 2
What Is XRPFi? A Practical Guide to Using Flare Network as Your Flywheel Step 2
If you’ve read the Flare Network ecosystem overview, you know what Flare is building and why it matters. This article is the practical follow-through – how to actually move your crypto into the Flare ecosystem, put it to work earning yield, and connect it to the Crypto Compounding Flywheel strategy.
There are two ways to arrive at this step. You can start with existing XRP or FLR holdings and deploy them directly. Or you can start from zero, use faucet earnings to acquire your first position, and prove the concept at small scale before committing more. Both paths are covered here.
Where This Fits in the Flywheel
The Crypto Compounding Flywheel is a four-step zero-capital strategy:
- Step 1 – Earn: faucets, surveys, and task platforms build your initial crypto position
- Step 2 – Bridge and Stack: move earnings to a productive chain and liquid stake them
- Step 3 – Deploy: put liquid staking tokens to work in DeFi for additional yield
- Step 4 – Compound: harvest yields and airdrops, reinvest, repeat
Flare is the Step 2 and Step 3 ecosystem in this strategy. Your XRP becomes FXRP on Flare. FXRP goes into Firelight to become stXRP. stXRP is deployed across Flare DeFi for additional yield layers. FLR is delegated to FTSO providers for ongoing base yield.
Each layer compounds the one before it – without requiring new capital at any stage.
What You Need Before You Start
Regardless of which path you take, you need:
- Bifrost Wallet – the most seamless wallet for the Flare ecosystem, with native FTSO delegation, FAssets support, and Firelight integration built in. Download at bifrostwallet.com
- Some FLR for gas – every transaction on Flare costs a small FLR fee. Even if you’re primarily an XRP holder, you need a small FLR balance to interact with anything on Flare. A few dollars worth is enough to get started
- Patience with the minting process – FXRP minting involves a cross-chain verification step that takes a few minutes. It is not instant like a simple token swap
Path A – The Faucet Path (Starting From Zero)
This is the pure Flywheel approach – no initial investment required, just consistent daily effort on earning platforms.
Step 1: Build your faucet balance
The target for Step 2 is having enough earnings to make the gas fees and minting costs worthwhile. On Cointiply – the highest-earning faucet platform – consistent daily use across faucet claims, surveys, and tasks can reach $40-50 in a few months. That’s a meaningful starting position for the Flare ecosystem.

Step 2: Convert faucet earnings to XRP or FLR
Cointiply pays out in Bitcoin. Once you reach the withdrawal threshold, move your BTC to an exchange like Coinbase and swap for either:
- XRP – if your primary goal is FXRP minting and Firelight participation
- FLR – if your primary goal is FTSO delegation yield from day one
- A split of both – the approach that covers both yield streams simultaneously
At $40-50, a split of roughly $25 XRP and $20 FLR gives you exposure to both paths without overcommitting to either before you understand the mechanics firsthand.
Step 3: Move to Bifrost Wallet and proceed to Path B below
Once you hold XRP or FLR in Bifrost Wallet, the steps are identical to Path B.
Path B – The XRP Holder Path
If you already hold XRP, this is the most direct route to putting it to work on Flare.
Step 1: Set up Bifrost Wallet
Download Bifrost Wallet from bifrostwallet.com. Create a new wallet, write your seed phrase on paper and store it safely – the same rules apply here as any self-custody wallet.
Bifrost natively supports both the XRP Ledger and the Flare network, which makes it the most practical single wallet for this entire strategy. You can hold your XRP, wrap FLR to WFLR, delegate to FTSO providers, and access Firelight all from within one app.
Step 2: Bridge XRP to Flare – Minting FXRP
This is the core step that unlocks everything else. Minting FXRP converts your XRP into a Flare-native token you can use in DeFi.
The official minting interface is at portal.flare.network – bookmark this URL and only ever use this exact address. Fake minting sites are one of the most common scam vectors in the Flare ecosystem.
The process:
- Connect Bifrost Wallet to portal.flare.network
- Select “Mint FXRP”
- Choose an FAssets agent – these are KYC’d participants who provide the collateral backing for your FXRP. The portal shows active agents and their current capacity
- Send your XRP to the agent’s XRP Ledger address
- Wait for Flare’s Data Connector to verify the transaction on-chain (a few minutes)
- FXRP is minted and appears in your Bifrost Wallet on the Flare network
Note: This article will be updated with firsthand documentation of the minting process, including any friction points or gotchas, once we complete our own test mint. If you’ve already been through the process and want to share your experience, reach out via the contact page.
Important: You need a small amount of FLR in your Bifrost Wallet on the Flare network to pay for the minting transaction gas fee. Make sure you have at least a few FLR available before initiating the mint.
Step 3: Stake FXRP on Firelight – Receive stXRP
Once you have FXRP in Bifrost Wallet, you can stake it on Firelight.
The official Firelight app is at firelight.finance.
- Open Bifrost Wallet and tap the Browser icon
- Navigate to firelight.finance
- Tap “Stake XRP” on the homepage
- Accept the Terms of Use on first access
- Connect your wallet via WalletConnect
- Deposit your FXRP into the Launch Vault
- Receive stXRP at a 1:1 ratio
What you get right now (Phase 1):
- stXRP – a liquid token representing your staked FXRP position
- Firelight Points – early participation rewards tracked on the Firelight dashboard
What’s coming (Phase 2):
- Real staking yield – fees paid by DeFi protocols purchasing Firelight’s cover mechanism, distributed to stXRP holders
- Phase 2 timing is not yet confirmed. Follow official Firelight channels for the announcement
The 7-day cooldown: withdrawing from the Firelight vault requires a 7-day cooldown period. This is not a lockup in the traditional sense – you can initiate withdrawal any time – but you won’t receive your FXRP immediately. Plan your liquidity accordingly.
Important: The deposit cap on Firelight has been raised to 65 million FXRP. If you encounter a “vault full” message, check the Firelight app for updated capacity before assuming anything is wrong.
FTSO Delegation – Yield on Your FLR From Day One
While Firelight’s staking yield is still pending Phase 2, FTSO delegation is already generating real, claimable yield right now.
This is the part of the strategy where your FLR starts earning immediately.
How it works:
- In Bifrost Wallet, tap on FLR
- Tap the three dots and select “Delegate”
- Wrap your FLR to WFLR (1:1, reversible at any time)
- Choose one or two FTSO data providers from the list
- Set your delegation percentage – 100% to one provider, or split between two
- Enable auto-claiming so rewards are claimed automatically each epoch
What to expect:
- Rewards accumulate every 3.5-day epoch
- Approximately 2.6% APY based on our own delegation of ~89,000 WFLR – your rate may vary slightly depending on which provider you choose and their performance
- Check provider performance at flaremetrics.io before delegating – look for consistent uptime and a stable reward rate
- Rewards must be claimed within 90 days or they are forfeited
Note on FlareDrops: FlareDrops concluded on January 30, 2026. FTSO delegation rewards are a separate, ongoing mechanism and continue as normal – but any content you’ve read referencing FlareDrops as an active income stream is now outdated.
What to Do With stXRP – Step 3 of the Flywheel
Once you have stXRP, you have options for deploying it further into Flare DeFi – which is Step 3 of the Flywheel.
Current options on Flare:
- Kinetic – Flare’s leading lending protocol. Deposit stXRP as collateral, borrow stablecoins (USDT0), and use the borrowed capital for additional yield strategies. Target APR for FXRP lenders is approximately 5%
- SparkDEX / BlazeSwap / Enosys – decentralized exchanges on Flare where FXRP/USDT0 liquidity provision is incentivized. Target APR for LP positions is approximately 50% during the current incentive program period (from the 2.2 billion FLR FAssets Incentive Program running through July 2026)
- Hold stXRP – the simplest option while waiting for Phase 2. stXRP accrues Firelight Points and will be positioned to earn cover fees when Phase 2 activates
A note on the incentive program: the 2.2 billion FLR FAssets Incentive Program runs through July 2026. The ~50% APR figures for LP positions are partly incentive-driven and will likely adjust once the program concludes. Don’t size positions based on incentive-period yields as a permanent baseline.
Honest Expectations
This is what you’re actually signing up for right now, without the hype:
What’s real and working today:
- FTSO delegation: ~2.6% APY on WFLR, paid every epoch (3.5 days), claimable in Bifrost
- FXRP minting: fully operational, with 90M+ FXRP currently circulating on Flare (per flare.network). Cumulative mints since launch are higher – over 150 million FXRP has passed through the system – but some has since been redeemed back to native XRP, so circulating supply is the honest number to watch
- Firelight stXRP: operational, earning Points, composable across Flare DeFi
- Kinetic lending: real yield on FXRP deposits
What’s coming but not confirmed:
- Firelight Phase 2 staking rewards: timeline not announced, depends on protocol adoption
- FBTC: Bitcoin as an FAsset, timeline TBC
- Post-incentive program yield rates: will adjust once the FLR incentive program concludes
The Flywheel case for Flare: even at conservative yield numbers, a position that earns FTSO delegation rewards on FLR while accumulating Firelight Points and positioning for Phase 2 is genuinely productive. This is a real ecosystem with real TVL and real institutional backing – not a speculative bet on an unproven chain.
The downside risks are real too: FLR price volatility, Phase 2 delay or underperformance, and the general smart contract risks that apply to any DeFi protocol. Size your position accordingly and never deploy capital you can’t afford to lock up for a cooldown period.
